After I got my fire going and ate an orange-the only food I allowed myself that evening-I lay on my bed and watched my thoughts.  I started to think about how while I have great faith in miracles, metaphysical events and the overall supportive nature of the universe, I hadn’t been fully trusting Spirit to help me with the mundate tasks of life-I believed it was possible to raise the dead, but didn’t trust the universe to protect my car keys.  I realized I’d had a deep-seated reluctance to ask for this kind of help, thinking it was arrogant and unrealistic.  I decided that I will let magic happen in my everyday life, whether that means helping me build a fire or write a paper or keep mice out of my house.

I read a chapter from my copy of Douglas Monroe’s “21 Lessons of Merlyn”, did some writing and then meditated.  I felt a very strong pulsating energy in my crown chakra, so strong it was almost uncomfortable.  I continued to feel that energy off and on through the next day.  When I lay down to sleep I had several very interesting dreams, including one in which a pool of water next to the caretaker’s cabin had a fire burning in it and one in which etheric being similar to a giant spider crossed the path which led to my cabin (my tarot card for the day had been the High Priestess, which is represented by spider in animal tarot..)

My sleep was sporadic since I hadn’t mastered the art of maintaining the fire at an even burn and therefore had to get up several times to work with it.  When I awoke after dawn I felt nauseous, and later vomitted several times, which I feel was my body’s way of releasing physical and spiritual toxins.

After packing my belongings and speaking to the caretaker I visited the pool of water I’d dreamed about, and felt the water speaking to me.  It told me that water was my protector and would support me.  I felt very loved.

As I was walking back past her cabin the caretaker came out again and asked if I’d like her to give me Reiki.  I said yes and sat in a chair in her kitchen while she first applied light touch and then used off-body energy transmission.  I felt very restless at times during the treatment but was able to release alot of stagnant energy.  Towards the end of the session I overcame my inhibitions and aided the releases by making intuitive movements and sounds.  Eventually I told her I’d gotten what I needed, thanked her, hugged her and headed back down the mountain.

I feel like I may have left out some fascinating details but I hope that I’ve conveyed the essence of my experience.  Before I left the caretaker gave me the e-mail address of the Native American shaman who I mentioned in my first post about the Monk’s Cave.

I’m very interested in comments and feedback about this blog, and also what you might like to see more or less of.  I’d like to encourage dialogue through the comment feature.  Blessings,

Last Friday I was feeling stressed out and overwhelmed by my work responsibilities. As I told my friends I was feeling like I’d been getting really good at getting things done quickly and efficiently, but was only doing so in order to cram my schedule full of more things. I felt like I needed to work more from my heart than my head. I made the spontaneous decision to go on a retreat the next day at Temenos, a spiritual retreat center in Shutesbury, MA (and the location of the Monk’s Cave mentioned earlier here).

When I called the caretaker in the morning she told me the dirt road leading to the base of Mt. Mineral might be impassable, although I could hike from a longer distance if I wanted to. I packed my things (lightly) and started out. While I was on my way she called me back and let me know I could drive to the main parking area, if I was careful.

I parked and loaded my belongings onto a sled, then began the familiar hike. I stopped briefly when I reached the interesting rock carving of the Bodhisattva, Jizo, protector of women and children (photo in earlier post).  A story is told that Jizo was so moved by compassion that she made it her mission to redeem all of the souls in hell.

After speaking to the caretaker and leaving some belongings in my cabin (I was fortunate to get the most remote one, built by Temenos’ founders), I began hiking along a remote trail I’d heard about on a previous visit.  This path took me through beautiful natural terrain, alternating between rocky, hilly areas and swampland.  There were many stone shrines along the trail and at at least one spot I picked up a strong impression of Native American ritual energy.  The trail looped around in a circle and at one point I hiked up a beautiful rock formation with a waterfall.

After that I headed for my old favorite, the stone chamber called the Monk’s Cave.  I tried to motivate myself to stay there for a couple of hours.  I began to pray and meditate, and then to move my body rhymically and make sounds to release tension as I sat on the stone seat at the back.  I felt some discomfort but it was the kind associated with doing good, necessary work.  I started to feel tired and drifted in and out of a light dream state.  As I was thinking about the drama in my life the words “I’m not in the story” came as a quick lapse into dream.  After I’d been there about 45 minutes I left-it seems like the energy there is still too strong for me to remain inside for long periods  (Interestingly the next day I spoke to an acquiantance who it turned out knew of the cave and has meditated there many times.  He considers it a magical place and the center of special magnetic activity, something I’ve also felt).

I headed back to my cabin, which had no electrical power.  I started to build my fire.  I had no cooking to do since I was doing a fruit and water fast that day.  I let out a couple of loud screams to release some of the bottled-up tension I’d been feeling (my cabin was so far away from everything else that I’m sure no one heard me).

I’ll post the rest of this story soon…

The new moon which will occur in Aries this Thursday at 12:06 PM Eastern US time is a profound opportunity to charge ahead in new adventures and let go of habits, objects and people that are holding us back.  The psychic high tide created at this time will give us enough cosmic support to magnify our intentions exponentially, so state out loud your intentions for change on the day of or within a couple of days before or after the new moon.

The recent vernal equinox brought an influx of new energy and balance into our lives, and the current new moon gives us an opportunity to direct this energy.  Keep in mind however that since Venus is currently in retrograde it is important for us also to look below the surface of our experience and be honest about what’s really going on in our lives.  Especially in relational and financial matters, be clear about what you want to create and what you’re willing to let go of.

I’m growing especially fond of Aries moons since I experienced a huge personal breakthrough during the full moon in this sign last year, and another one now which I believe is connected to the upcoming new moon.

Peace and happiness to all of you!

Today’s full moon at 10:38 PM Eastern US time is in the perfectionist sign of virgo, which can make us all too aware of gaps between our desires and our current reality.  Full moons are times of heightened spiritual energy, which we can harness by setting new goals and embarking on new life paths.

Have you been wanting to get organized or start a new routine?  The Virgo moon is an ideal time to take those steps.  If you act within the next 2-3 days you’ll have an abundance of heavenly support behind your actions and can quickly manifest major changes in your life, although it may take time before you see the full effects of those changes.  Give added power to your intentions by writing them or speaking them out loud, or you might broadcast them to the universe by posting them in a reply here

These photos are from my June-July 2008 Qigong and internal martial arts study tour in Hubei province

The image above is the front entrance to the Buddhist temple where I stayed for most of the trip.  We actually went in through a gate to the left most of the time.  The two dragons atop the roof were a very common feature of temples, shrines and tombs in the area, and the red/yellow color scheme was the same as the other Buddhist temple we visited.  The temple was 1,500 years old and had been re-opened in 2003 by one of my Qigong teacher’s long-time students

These Buddhas occupied the central worship area of the temple’s largest room, which also contained several other individually placed idols.  The offerings in the front provide a sense of scale

Statues of Boddhisattva’s, similar to saints in the catholic church.  The man who sculpted them was staying at the temple during our visit.  I recommended clicking on the picture to see the larger version and being open to receiving their blessings

This video clip once again features the White Oak from the “Sacred Healing Portals”, as well as the first appearance on this blog of my friend Devon who is practicing Qigong under the energetic influence of this magnificent tree.  I feel that the energy of this tree is so special that it can have life-changing influence on people who enter its vicinity, or even for those who view images of it.

I have decided to post more pictures of sacred sites I have visited.  Some are in China, others are in New England (primarily Western Massachusetts).  These sites all share one thing in common-they have very strong healing energies associated with them.  By visiting them, or especially by meditating at one, a person can quickly transmute large amounts of karma, heal their body and release long-blocked emotions.  Many of the sites are located where ley lines (the earth’s meridian channels) cross to create a vortex or portal of positive energy.  Even looking at a picture of one of these sites can give you a powerful healing experience.  As you do so open yourself to the healing energy, to feelings of unconditional love and the support of the universe.  If negative feelings arise, thank them for helping you to hone your focus and then let them go.

This White Oak, located near the border between Amherst and Hadley, Massachusetts, has very strong energies of love and joy.  It is associated with music, romance and fun.

This labyrinth is located in Amherst, Massachusetts, USA and I believe it was built within the last 2 years.  It can help a person connect more with the earth and its soul, and also complete the link between earth and heaven.
