If you’ve read this blog consistently you know that I’m fascinated by sacred sites and the healing potential they hold, and I’ve been feeling a need to write more of a general primer on how to work with them for healing. I hope you will find this valuable and be inspiried in your own work with sacred sites.

    What Is A “Sacred Site”?

A sacred site is a physical location endowed with characteristics or energies that facilitate healing, love and access to higher levels of consciousness.  Sacred sites do not have to be exotic, mysterious or hard to find.  Examples of common sacred sites include churches, meditation centers, special trees, places where ley lines meet and many more.  Some sacred sites are built in locations where the earth energies-ley lines-create a vortex of positive energy.  Other sites are not in these areas but hold a positive energy because of their Feng Shui characteristics or the postive thoughts and activities of people who use them or have used them in the past.

How Can I Use Sacred Sites to Heal?

Visit them!  If you don’t think their are any sacred sites in your area, think harder.  Are their places in nature where you always get a good feeling?  Mountain peaks with beautiful views?  Any churches in your town?  Sacred sites are everywhere!  When I first started working with them I felt I had to perform  specific actions or rituals to awaken the energy of the sites, but more and more I’m finding that just simply visiting them and letting them work on me is the best approach (especially with the more powerful sites).

You may be thinking ‘ok, that’s nice but I want more’.  Their are some things you can do to align yourself more with the energy of sacred sites.  You can meditate at them-if you don’t have a specific meditation technique, just listening to the sound of your breath, as you breathe through your nose, is a good one-or try using sounds like “Omm…” and feel the energy of the sound vibrate through your body.  Burn candles or incense.

The effects of opening to sacred site energy can be extraordinarily profound, but they can also be subtle, especially in the beginning.  Look for shifts in your feelings or thoughts, any subtle changes in your awareness.  Remember that you may accumulate more energy than your system can integrate all at once, so it could take time before you fully feel the changes in yourself.  If you continue the practice you may find that each site has a unique soul, connected to the Soul of the World, and that these souls want to interact with us to help us all heal.

These video clips are from a recent sacred site visit where I discuss this work and the global transition to a higher level of consciousness currently under way

    Blessings to all of you,

    -Josiah
